Superintendent's Message

Just as the 2024–2025 school year came to a close, so do our regularly scheduled School Board meetings for the year. We’re so grateful for the support, involvement, and partnership of our Whitehouse ISD community.
We’ll pick back up with regularly scheduled School Board meetings in August as we look ahead to another great year! Until then, we wish you and your family a relaxing and well-deserved summer break!

Information Reports (No Action Required)

      A. Student Health Advisory Council Annual Report: Chairperson Jody Ballard, PhD, RN, spotlighted the achievements of the Whitehouse ISD Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC). In her presentation, Dr. Ballard provided an in-depth overview of the progress students made in pursuit of their honor cords, celebrating their accomplishments to health education. This year, 39 students were awarded SHAC honor cords, and two students were each awarded a $500 cash prize generously donated by UT Health. SHAC continues to encourage students to lead health-conscious lives while providing meaningful opportunities that extend beyond high school.

        B. Finance Update:  Clint Ray provided his monthly update highlighting the financial health and strategic direction of Whitehouse ISD. The presentation focused on current enrollment trends, noting a positive impact from the district’s transfer portal. This initiative has helped increase student enrollment by welcoming students from surrounding communities who reside outside district boundaries. Mr. Ray also addressed the recent passage of House Bill 2 (HB2), which mandates a salary increase for many Whitehouse ISD educators. This legislative change represents a significant benefit to Whitehouse ISD, reinforcing the district's commitment to supporting and retaining high-quality teachers.
      C. Staffing Update:  Tara Matthews presented the results of our recent TASB Survey. The goal of the survey was to compare our district’s staffing levels to benchmark data from peer districts and align with established best practices. With these results, our district can better assess staffing needs using our metrics while also incorporating TASB benchmarks to guide informed and strategic staffing decisions.
       D. Dual Credit Update: Dr. Abby Taylor highlighted the Dual Credit opportunities available at Whitehouse High School. These programs give students a real edge, allowing them to jumpstart their career paths and degree plans while still in high school. Thanks to our strong partnerships with Tyler Junior College and A&M Commerce, Whitehouse High School students can take courses that count for both high school and college credit. It’s a great way for them to gain a significant advantage as they prepare for life after graduation.
       D. ESSA Consolidated Grant: Dr. Melinda Jennings gave notice of our intent to apply for the ESSA Consolidated Grant (Every Student Succeeds Act).
